The C/U Foundation is an organization dedicated to broadly defined contemporary dance which aims to create a physical space in Warsaw, a place for the professionals to present, produce, educate and promote dance.
It was created in 2007 to help develop and promote this form of art. Its mission is to create professional conditions for presentation, development and promotion of dance, as well as a place for a dialogue between the artist and the audience. The C/U is fully aware of how broad and difficult it is to define the contemporary dance term, and therefore inspires and promotes artists that use means typical of various art forms in the creative process – from new choreography and dance theater through performance and video art to interactive art.
The foundation aims to create a physical space in Warsaw, a place for the professionals to present, produce, educate and promote dance – a space gathering and integrating Polish and international creators, as well as the audience of this art form. The activities of the C/U include organization of an international festival, regular presentation of Polish and local artists, educational and social projects and science conferences. One of the program priorities is to work towards national and international cooperation, as well as to work with/for the local communities, activating dance and performance aficionados. The foundation encourages brave and searching artists, for whom body and mind are a starting point to express their creativity on scene.
The foundation is a member of 2 international networks: Open Latitudes and APAP, and also a member of the Committee of Dance in the Office of Culture of the capital city of Warsaw.
